Fatal Catheter Procedure Alleged in Lawsuit Against CT’s Bridgeport Hospital – April 2025
A wrongful-death lawsuit filed in Connecticut alleges that a routine catheter procedure at Bridgeport Hospital led to the death of Rev. Yves Abichet, a pastor and community leader in Bridgeport’s Haitian-American community. According to the complaint, doctors allegedly punctured his bladder while inserting a suprapubic catheter, causing internal bleeding and severe complications. The lawsuit claims medical staff failed to recognize and correct the injury despite warning signs, allowing the condition to worsen. Rev. Abichet later developed sepsis and died on December 24, 2023. His family is now seeking damages in court, alleging medical malpractice and negligent treatment.
